LEGAL SERVICES
1. Scope of Work
The scope of our work is the provision of legal services, as regulated by the applicable Law on the Legal Profession. In performing our professional duties, we strive to provide all forms of legal assistance competently and professionally, in particular by giving legal advice, drafting legal documents, and representing clients before courts, administrative bodies, and other authorities, organizations, and private individuals.
All clients are entitled to equal treatment and to receive the highest possible quality of service. All clients are treated equally regardless of the scope or nature of the matter.
We cannot guarantee success in litigation or a desired outcome of any legal advice. Upon request, and based on the information available to us at the relevant time, we can provide an assessment of the likelihood of success, as well as an estimate of the expected duration and costs of your case. Such assessments are non-binding unless expressly agreed otherwise.
We are authorized to advise clients on Croatian law. We cannot provide a legal opinion on the laws of other jurisdictions. If the need arises to interpret foreign law, we will inform you accordingly and suggest the next steps, such as engaging foreign counsel. We do not accept liability for any assessment of foreign law given upon your request or for any legal consequences arising from the consideration of foreign law that may be material to your case.
2. Commencement of Representation
Our services are provided in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations governing the legal profession, primarily the Law on the Legal Profession, the Code of Legal Ethics, and other relevant regulations governing contractual obligations.
We render our services on the basis of:
-
an instruction (e.g., a power of attorney, engagement letter, or other written authorization), or
-
a legal services agreement.
Our engagement begins upon the issuance of a written mandate, unless otherwise agreed. Your acceptance may be given orally or in writing; however, we will confirm any oral instruction in writing if required by the circumstances of the case.
In providing advice and assistance, we rely on the facts and documents you provide. In cooperation with you, at the start of representation, we will define the scope of work and request all necessary information. However, it is your responsibility to provide us with all relevant information and documents that may affect the performance of our services.
We will primarily communicate with you via e-mail. You are responsible for providing an e-mail address that you regularly check.
3. Fees and Costs
The prices of our services, as well as all other fees and costs to which we are entitled, are determined in accordance with the Tariff on Fees and Compensation for the Work of Attorneys, available (in Croatian) on the website of the Croatian Bar Association.
However, if more appropriate for your case, we may agree on other fee arrangements provided for in the Tariff, such as hourly billing or a success-based fee. Any such fee arrangement must be agreed upon in a written engagement letter or legal services agreement.
Cost estimates should not be interpreted as maximum or fixed amounts, but only as a best estimate based on the information available at the time, as described in Section 2. We will endeavor to inform you as early as possible of any significant deviations from our estimate, but you remain liable to pay the full amount of our fees regardless of the estimate.
Our fees are not contingent upon the outcome of your case, unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
We are not obliged to bear any court fees, administrative fees, or other charges payable to public authorities.
If our services are billed on an hourly basis, time will be recorded in minimum increments of one quarter of an hour (15 minutes).
Where applicable, our invoices are subject to Value Added Tax (VAT) at a rate of 25%.
4. Confidentiality
All information obtained from you in the course of providing legal services is treated as strictly confidential and protected as attorney–client privilege. For more details, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
